Beware: Deceptive Smartphone Apps Targeting Facebook Logins
Meta has already identified more than 400 such malicious apps this year, which were available on Apple’s online store as well as Google Play for Android users. This was reported by Meta’s Director of Threat Prevention, David Agranovich.

How do malicious apps steal our passwords?
According to Meta Corporation’s security team, apps often ask people to log in using their Facebook account information to take advantage of promised features. With this data, they can steal usernames and passwords. They try to get people to enter their login information in such a way as to give hackers access to their accounts, Agranovich stresses.
More than 40 percent of the apps listed by Meta as unsafe included ways to edit or process photos and were even such simple functions that allowed smartphones to be used as flashlights, for example. The Facebook owner…
