Bill Gates: AI as groundbreaking as the computer and internet revolution
Bill Gates recently announced that artificial intelligence (AI) is the second technological revolution in his lifetime, on par with the rise of the computer and the Internet.
During the testing phase, the Microsoft co-founder was impressed by the answers provided by ChatGPT OpenAI and believes AI will change the way people work, learn, travel, receive healthcare, and communicate with each other. Gates predicts that entire industries will revolve around this technology, and companies will excel in their ability to use it effectively.
Gates also believes that AI brings both opportunities and responsibilities, stressing the need to establish rules to ensure that any advantages of AI outweigh its potential disadvantages. He also hopes that everyone, regardless of financial status or location, will benefit from the technology. Although Gates no longer has an active role at Microsoft after leaving the board in 2020, he remains the company’s largest individual shareholder with about 1.38% of its stock.
At its annual GTC developer conference, Nvidia unveiled new products that aim to extend practical AI technology, offering both hardware and software. The company also announced a partnership with Alphabet Inc’s Google Cloud Platform, which is described as the largest partnership of its kind. In addition, Adobe Inc. unveiled its Firefly AI at its event in Las Vegas, on the same day that Gates made his remarks.
